EXT. FORBIDDEN FOREST - LATER
Shots of HAGRID carrying HARRY through the forest,
followed by a procession of Death Eaters, two giants and
VOLDEMORT, are intercut with a continuation of the
previous scene back in the clearing, where VOLDEMORT is
tossing HARRY around like a rag doll in mid-air with his
wand, while the Death Eaters are cheering.
The procession passes by a group of centaurs, who look at
HARRY's limp body in shock.
EXT. MAIN GATES, HOGWARTS - NIGHT
The procession arrives at the open main gates of Hogwarts
School. The Death Eaters spread out in a line facing the
castle, behind HAGRID (who is still carrying HARRY) and
VOLDEMORT. HAGRID lays HARRY down on the ground.
MCGONAGALL runs out of the castle, followed by other
professors and students.
MCGONAGALL
No!
HERMIONE & RON
No!
GINNY
Harry!
Almost everyone else streaming out of Hogwarts is crying
out with them. Many are in tears.
VOLDEMORT
Silence!
The crowd stifles their cries.
VOLDEMORT (cont'd)
Harry Potter is dead! Albus
Dumbledore is dead! You have
lost... everything.
NEVILLE breaks free of the crowd and starts running
toward VOLDEMORT.
NEVILLE
Not as long as Dumbledore's Army
is still here!
VOLDEMORT points his wand at NEVILLE, who grows rigid and
still.
VOLDEMORT
This foolish boy is going to
demonstrate what happens to anyone
who continues to oppose me.
VOLDEMORT waves his wand, and the Sorting Hat flies out
of one of the castle's shattered windows and onto
NEVILLE's head, slipping down below his eyes. There are
movements from the watching crowd in front of the castle,
and the Death Eaters raise their wands, holding the
fighters of Hogwarts at bay.
VOLDEMORT (cont'd)
There will be no more Sorting at
Hogwarts School. The emblem of
Salazar Slytherin will suffice for
everyone.
As he says this, NAGINI slithers in front of NEVILLE and
hisses at him. At a flick of VOLDEMORT's wand, the
Sorting Hat bursts into flames. There are screams from
the crowd. Suddenly, there is an uproar from the distant
boundary of the school as hundreds of people come
swarming over the walls and pelt toward the castle,
uttering loud war cries. Distracted, VOLDEMORT turns to
look at them, and NEVILLE breaks free of the Body-Bind
Curse upon him.
The flaming hat falls off him, and the sword of Godric
Gryffindor materializes within it. In one swift, fluid
motion, NEVILLE draws the sword and slices off NAGINI's
head, which spins high into the air before thudding to
the ground with its body. Furious, VOLDEMORT aims his
wand at NEVILLE, but immediately turns to deflect arrows
shot at him from a group of centaurs that have just
arrived at the scene.
Chaos reigns as the battle escalates. Thestrals and
BUCKBEAK the Hippogriff soar around the side of the
castle, followed on the ground by GRAWP the giant; they
attack Voldemort's giants.
INT. ENTRANCE HALL, HOGWARTS - NIGHT
The battle moves into the castle. An army of house-elves
led by KREACHER, the locket of Regulus Black bouncing on
his chest, swarm into the entrance hall, screaming and
waving carving knives and cleavers.
KREACHER
Fight! Fight the Dark Lord, in the
name of brave Regulus! Fight!
INT. STAIRS, HOGWARTS - NIGHT
Not far away from the battle, DRACO staggers wearily down
a flight of stairs. LUCIUS and NARCISSA run up and
embrace him.
NARCISSA
Draco! You're alive!
DRACO
Mom! Dad!
INT. GREAT HALL, HOGWARTS - NIGHT
The battle has moved into the Great Hall. VOLDEMORT is at
the center of the battle, dueling MCGONAGALL, SLUGHORN
and KINGSLEY all at once. RON and NEVILLE are leading a
small band of students against several DEATH EATERS.
In a corner, BELLATRIX is dueling HERMIONE and LUNA. The
three brave students are firing spells at her, but they
all hit the wall behind her, which starts to crumble.
With a wave of her wand, BELLATRIX throws a piece of
rubble at them, pinning them to the ground.
Suddenly, BELLATRIX is blasted aside. We see GINNY
pointing her wand at her.
GINNY
This is for my friends!
She throws BELLATRIX at the wall.
GINNY (cont'd)
This is for my brother!
She slams BELLATRIX into the wall again.
GINNY (cont'd)
And this is for Harry!
But this time, BELLATRIX is ready for her, and GINNY's
wand flies out of her hand. BELLATRIX corners GINNY.
BELLATRIX
How very gallant of you! Come to
join your beloved Potter, have
you?
MRS. WEASLEY launches herself through the crowd at
BELLATRIX.
MRS. WEASLEY
Don't you threaten my daughter,
you bitch!
She brandishes her wand, and BELLATRIX is lifted into the
air. Dangling in mid-air, BELLATRIX bursts into insane,
exhilarated laughter.
MRS. WEASLEY (cont'd)
Avada Kedavra!
Her curse hits BELLATRIX squarely in the chest, and the
insane Death Eater is no more. VOLDEMORT roars in fury.
HARRY (O.S.)
Protego!
A Shield Charm expands in the middle of the Hall, so
strong that it shoves everyone around VOLDEMORT to the
side of the Hall. VOLDEMORT looks around for the source
of the charm, and his eyes land squarely at the camera,
an expression of immense shock and fear creeping into his
features.
Standing in front of him is HARRY, looking very much
alive.
CROWD
(whispering, ad lib)
Can it be? He's alive!
VOLDEMORT
I killed you!
EXT. CLEARING, FORBIDDEN FOREST - EARLIER
We are back to the moment when VOLDEMORT apparently kills
HARRY.
VOLDEMORT
Avada Kedavra!
There is a flash of green light, and HARRY collapses to
the ground. The camera pushes into his lightning scar,
which seems to glow brighter and brighter until the
screen is completely white.
DUMBLEDORE (O.S.)
(from a distance)
Harry.
The brightness subsides a little, and we start to make
out HARRY's form. He is lying on a flat, white floor, in
the same position as he was in the forest a moment ago.
His eyes are closed, and his scar seems to have
disappeared. He is surrounded by a bright, swirling mist.
We shall henceforth refer to this place as "King's
Cross".
INT. "KING'S CROSS"
DUMBLEDORE (O.S.)
(more distinctly)
Harry.
HARRY opens his eyes. Treading through the mist from a
distance, initially a mere shadow but becoming more
substantial as he approaches, is DUMBLEDORE. Gradually,
the mist coalesces into a white-open space, bright and
clean, with a clear, domed glass ceiling.
HARRY
Professor Dumbledore?
He gets up.
HARRY (cont'd)
But you're dead.
DUMBLEDORE
Oh yes.
HARRY
Then I'm dead too?
DUMBLEDORE
Ah, that is the question, isn't
it? You brave, brave man. Please,
take a seat.
Out of the thin vapor that is left, close to them, two
white chairs are formed. DUMBLEDORE sits on one and HARRY
takes the other.
DUMBLEDORE (cont'd)
Do you remember what he took from
you, three years ago?
There is a brief flashback to a scene in MOVIE 4:
EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
WORMTAIL is piercing HARRY's palm with a knife.
WORMTAIL
Blood of the enemy, forcibly
taken.
INT. "KING'S CROSS"
HARRY
He took my blood —
DUMBLEDORE
— and rebuilt his living body with
it! In doing so, he tethered you
to life while he lives.
HARRY
But I let him kill me.
DUMBLEDORE
And that will, I think, have made
all the difference.
HARRY
So the part of his soul that was
in me —
DUMBLEDORE
— is destroyed. Your soul is
completely your own now, Harry.
INT. GREAT HALL, HOGWARTS - NIGHT
HARRY
All your Horcruxes are gone. It's
just you and me now. But before
you try to kill me again, Riddle,
try for some remorse.
VOLDEMORT
You dare!
An edge of dazzling sun appears over the sill of a
window, and the light hits both HARRY and VOLDEMORT's
faces at the same time.
INT. GREAT HALL, HOGWARTS - MORNING
Instantly, they point their wands at each other.
VOLDEMORT
Avada Kedavra!
HARRY
Expelliarmus!
A jet of green light from VOLDEMORT's wand meets a jet of
red light from HARRY's wand. There is a loud "BANG", and
golden flames erupt at the point where the spells
collide.
INT. "KING'S CROSS" - EARLIER
HARRY and DUMBLEDORE are still seated facing each other.
HARRY
The Wand of Destiny is Voldemort's
now. He killed Snape.
DUMBLEDORE
You're forgetting something. Snape
never defeated me — my death was
planned between us. I'm guessing,
and my guesses have usually been
good, that the Wand has given its
allegiance to someone else.
There is another brief flashback, this time to MOVIE 6:
INT. ASTRONOMY TOWER, HOGWARTS - NIGHT
DUMBLEDORE appears to be alone in the tower. As we know,
HARRY is hidden under the Invisibility Cloak.
DUMBLEDORE (V.O.)
Someone who removed it from me
before I died.
The door bursts open, and in comes DRACO, who fires a
Disarming spell at DUMBLEDORE, which causes his wand to
fly out of his hand.
INT. "KING'S CROSS"
HARRY
Draco! But I overpowered him and
took his wand. Does the Wand of
Destiny know this? Because if it
does —
INT. GREAT HALL, HOGWARTS - MORNING
HARRY and VOLDEMORT's wands are still locked in combat,
the golden flames between them growing more intense.
VOLDEMORT's wand begins to tremble violently, and it
looks as if it is about to fly out of his hand.
HARRY (V.O.)
— I am the true master of the Wand
of Destiny.
INT. "KING'S CROSS" - EARLIER
HARRY
Tell me one last thing. Is this
real? Or has this been happening
inside my head?
HARRY's P.O.V. — DUMBLEDORE beams. The surroundings are
evaporating into a bright mist which descends, obscuring
his figure.
DUMBLEDORE
Of course it is happening inside
your head, Harry.
The camera pulls away from the vanishing DUMBLEDORE...
DUMBLEDORE (V.O.) (cont'd)
But why on earth should that mean
that it is not real?
EXT. CLEARING, FORBIDDEN FOREST - NIGHT
...and out of HARRY's lightning scar. Close-up of HARRY's
face, having just been hit with the killing curse. He is
lying on the ground with his eyes closed. Suddenly, his
eyes snap open, and he lets out a soft gasp.
VOLDEMORT (O.S.)
The boy... is he dead? Narcissa,
examine him.
We hear the sound of footsteps getting closer, and HARRY
shuts his eyes quickly. NARCISSA bends over him and feels
his neck. We hear his heartbeat, and it is thunderous.
Close-up of NARCISSA's face. She looks terrified.
NARCISSA
(whispering)
Is Draco alive?
HARRY
(whispering)
Yes.
NARCISSA gets up.
NARCISSA
He is dead.
INT. GREAT HALL, HOGWARTS - MORNING
The golden flames, which mark the point where the two
wand-rays meet, suddenly rush towards VOLDEMORT and
engulf him. The Wand of Destiny leaps out of VOLDEMORT's
hand and spins in the air toward HARRY, who catches it.
After what seems like an eternity, VOLDEMORT finally
crumples to the ground, dead forever. The CROWD erupts
into jubilant cheers.
INT. HEADMASTER'S OFFICE, HOGWARTS - MORNING
All the ex-headmasters' portraits applaud and cheer. On a
blank spot on the wall near DUMBLEDORE's portrait, a new
picture frame materializes, containing a portrait of
SNAPE looking happy and at peace for the first time ever.
EXT. DIAGON ALLEY - MORNING
As a multitude of owls swoop down, delivering the news,
everyone on the street is cheering.
INT. GREAT HALL, HOGWARTS - MORNING
GINNY runs through the applauding crowd, toward HARRY.
EXT. GARDEN, THE BURROW - SEVERAL YEARS LATER
GINNY kisses HARRY, and as the camera pulls back we see
that this scene is of their wedding. The applause
continues. RON and HERMIONE hold hands, each wearing an
engagement ring.
FADE TO:
INT. PLATFORM NINE-AND-THREE-QUARTERS - MANY YEARS LATER
Nineteen years have passed since Voldemort's death. On
the platform beside the waiting Hogwarts Express, HARRY
and GINNY are with their daughter, LILY, and their sons,
ALBUS and JAMES. LILY and JAMES run ahead toward their
friends ROSE and HUGO, who are with their parents,
HERMIONE and RON. With a smile toward HARRY, GINNY goes
to join them. ALBUS and HARRY hang back.
ALBUS
What if I'm in Slytherin?
HARRY
Albus Severus, you were named for
two headmasters of Hogwarts. One
of them was a Slytherin and he was
probably the bravest man I ever
knew.
After a final hug from HARRY, ALBUS goes off to board the
train with his friends. HARRY moves to GINNY's side, and
takes her hand.
GINNY
They'll be all right.
HARRY
I know. All is well.
EXT. LONDON - DAY
The Hogwarts Express moves through the lovely London
landscape, and disappears into the distance.
FADE OUT.
