Chapter 20: The Sacking of Severus Snape

                 INT. CORRIDOR, HOGWARTS - NIGHT

                 MCGONAGALL races along a corridor. SNAPE steps out from
                 around the corner, holding his wand. MCGONAGALL raises
                 her wand.

                                         SNAPE
                           Where are the Carrows?

                                         MCGONAGALL
                           Wherever you told them to be, I
                           expect, Severus.

                                         SNAPE
                           Have you seen Harry Potter,
                           Minerva? Because if you have, I
                           must insist —

                 MCGONAGALL's wand slashes through the air, and SNAPE
                 reacts swiftly; a powerful Shield Charm erupts between
                 them. Behind her, FLITWICK and SPROUT sprints up the
                 corridor toward them, with SLUGHORN panting along at the
                 rear. They all have their wands raised.

                                         FLITWICK
                           Minerva!

                 SNAPE looks at the four wands pointed at him, then
                 smashes through a window. As he hurtles into the
                 darkness, he transforms into a huge bat.

                                         MCGONAGALL
                           He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is
                           coming. Gather our students and
                           meet in the Great Hall.

                 FLITWICK, SPROUT and SLUGHORN jog out of sight.

                                         MCGONAGALL (cont'd)
                           Piertotum Locomotor!

                 All along the corridor, and throughout the castle,
                 statues and suits of armor jump down from their plinths.

                                         MCGONAGALL (cont'd)
                           Hogwarts is threatened! Man the
                           boundaries!

                 Clattering and yelling, the horde of moving statues
                 stampede off.



                 INT. ROOM OF REQUIREMENT, HOGWARTS - NIGHT

                 Many people, including members of the Order of the
                 Phoenix and Hogwarts alumni, are emerging from the secret
                 passageway. HARRY and LUNA come in through the main
                 entrance.

                                         LUPIN
                           Harry, what's happening?

                                         HARRY
                           What are you all doing here?

                                         FRED
                           You didn't expect us to miss the
                           fun, did you, Harry?

                                         HARRY
                           Voldemort's coming. They're
                           evacuating the younger kids and
                           everyone's meeting in the Great
                           Hall to get organized. We're
                           fighting.

                 There is a great roar and a surge toward the door.

                                         HARRY (cont'd)
                           Where are Ron and Hermione?

                                         GINNY
                           They left, not long ago. Ron said
                           something about a bathroom.



                 INT. MOANING MYRTLE'S BATHROOM - NIGHT

                 HERMIONE and RON enter the bathroom.

                                         HERMIONE
                           I don't get it, Ron. What are we
                           doing here?

                                         RON
                           We need something to destroy the
                           Horcruxes.

                                         HERMIONE
                           Of course! The dead basilisk, in
                           the Chamber of Secrets! But how
                           are we going to get in there? You
                           need to speak Parseltongue!

                                         RON
                           I've been practising it since I
                           heard Harry do it. Herssstrasssa!

                 The chamber opens.

                                         HERMIONE
                           Ron, that was amazing!

                 She flings her arms around RON and kisses him full on the
                 mouth. A moment later, they break apart.

                                         RON
                           Come on!
