Chapter 19: The Lost Diadem
INT. ROOM OF REQUIREMENT, HOGWARTS - NIGHT
The door that had been created when Neville had asked the
room for food, now swings open to let HARRY, HERMIONE and
RON out of the secret passageway and into the Room of
Requirement.
NEVILLE (O.S.)
Harry! It's Harry Potter! Ron!
Hermione!
A swarm of students engulf HARRY, RON and HERMIONE,
hugging them, pounding their backs, ruffling their hair
and shaking their hands.
HARRY
Okay, okay, calm down!
HARRY looks around. The room has evolved even more since
the last time we saw it. Multicolored hammocks are strung
from the ceiling and from a balcony that runs around the
dark wood-paneled and windowless walls, covered in bright
tapestry hangings representing the colors and insignias
of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. There are
bulging bookcases, a few broomsticks propped against the
walls, and in the corner, a large wooden-cased wireless
phone.
HARRY (cont'd)
Where are we?
LUNA
Room of Requirement, of course!
Surpassed itself, hasn't it?
HARRY
But how —
NEVILLE
We were getting really hungry, and
the passage opened up. Aberforth's
been providing us with food,
because for some reason, that's
one thing the room doesn't do.
HARRY
All right, we need to get going.
GINNY
What are we going to do, then,
Harry? What's the plan?
HARRY
Plan? Well, there's something Ron,
Hermione and I need to do, and
then we'll get out of here.
NEVILLE
What do you mean, get out of here?
You came to help us overthrow
Snape and the Carrows, didn't you?
Fight them out of Hogwarts?
HARRY
I'm sorry, but that's not what we
came for.
SEAMUS
You're going to leave us in this
mess?
RON
No! What we're doing is for
everyone's sake! It's all about
getting rid of You-Know-Who —
NEVILLE
Then let us help! We're
Dumbledore's Army!
HERMIONE
(whispering to HARRY)
They can help, Harry. We don't
have to tell them it's a Horcrux.
HARRY
Okay. There's something we need to
find. It's here at Hogwarts, but
we don't know where. It might have
belonged to Rowena Ravenclaw. Has
anyone heard of an object like
that?
LUNA
Well, there's her lost diadem.
MICHAEL CORNER
Yeah, but the lost diadem is lost,
Luna.
RON
What is a diadem?
HERMIONE
It's like a crown. A tiara.
LUNA
I could take you up to our common
room and show you what it looks
like, Harry. Ravenclaw's wearing
it in her statue.
INT. RAVENCLAW COMMON ROOM, HOGWARTS - NIGHT
Close-up on the delicate-looking tiara on the head of the
tall white-marbled statue of Rowena Ravenclaw. There are
words engraved onto the crown. The camera pulls back to
reveal HARRY and LUNA in front of the statue, underneath
the Invisibility Cloak.
HARRY
It looks familiar, somehow. Hang
on, there are some words there.
He steps out from under the Cloak and climbs up onto the
statue's plinth to read the words on the diadem:
HARRY (cont'd)
Wit beyond measure is man's
greatest treasure.
ALECTO (O.S.)
Which makes you pretty skint,
witless!
HARRY whirls around to see ALECTO pressing her wand to
the Dark Mark branded on her forearm.
EXT. CAVE BY THE SEA - NIGHT
VOLDEMORT is soaring through the sky above stormy seas,
toward the cave where the locket was hidden. Abruptly, he
whirls around in triumph.
VOLDEMORT
They have the boy!
INT. RAVENCLAW COMMON ROOM, HOGWARTS - NIGHT
We are back to ALECTO and HARRY. LUNA, under the Cloak,
is now invisible to us.
HARRY
He's coming!
ALECTO
That's right, boy!
Suddenly, the tip of a wand appears in mid-air, pointed
at ALECTO.
LUNA (O.S.)
Stupefy!
There is a loud bang, and ALECTO hits the ground. LUNA
emerges from under the Cloak.
HARRY
Well done, Luna!
Suddenly there is a loud rapping on the door to the
common room, followed by a series of loud bangs, as
though somebody is firing a gun into the door.
HARRY and LUNA disappear under the Cloak again. The door
bursts open, and in comes AMYCUS, who yells in fury and
fear at the sight of the motionless ALECTO on the floor.
AMYCUS
Alecto! What've they done, the
little whelps?
MCGONAGALL enters through the open door.
MCGONAGALL
Professor Carrow, may I ask why
you are waking up half the castle
at this hour?
AMYCUS
Shut up, Minerva! We're in charge
here now.
He spits in her face. An angry HARRY throws the Cloak off
LUNA and himself, and points his wand at AMYCUS.
HARRY
Crucio!
The Death Eater is lifted off his feet, writhing through
the air like a drowning man, thrashing and howling in
pain. Then, with a crunch and a shattering of glass, he
smashes into the front of a bookcase and crumples,
insensible to the floor.
HARRY (cont'd)
I see what Voldemort meant. You
need to really mean it.
MCGONAGALL
Potter! What... how... Potter,
that was foolish!
HARRY
Professor McGonagall, Voldemort's
on the way.
MCGONAGALL
Why, then you must flee!
HARRY
Professor, I'm acting on
Dumbledore's orders. I must find
what he wanted me to find!
MCGONAGALL
You're acting on Dumbledore's
orders?
We shall secure the school against
He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named while you
search for this object.
