Chapter 13: Malfoy Manor
INT. LIVING ROOM, MALFOY MANOR - NIGHT
GREYBACK and his companions drag HARRY, HERMIONE and RON
roughly before LUCIUS MALFOY, his wife NARCISSA, and her
sister BELLATRIX LESTRANGE. Slinking behind them are
DRACO MALFOY and WORMTAIL.
GREYBACK
We've got Harry Potter!
He tosses HERMIONE and RON's wands and the sword of
Gryffindor onto the floor in front of them.
LUCIUS
Excellent, Greyback. I shall
summon the Dark Lord!
BELLATRIX is gazing at the sword in fear.
BELLATRIX
Stop! Where did you get this
sword?
GREYBACK
It was in their tent.
BELLATRIX
Snape sent it to my vault in
Gringotts! I must speak to the
Mudblood. Take the other prisoners
down to the cellar.
INT. CELLAR, MALFOY MANOR - NIGHT
HARRY and RON are shoved into the pitch black cellar, and
the door slams shut behind them. From upstairs, HERMIONE
utters a blood-curdling scream.
RON
Hermione!
HARRY
Ron, do you still have the
Deluminator?
RON
Yeah, I don't think they took
it...
A moment later, there is a click, and the cellar is
flooded with light. Lying in a corner are DEAN, GRIPHOOK
and OLLIVANDER.
HARRY
Dean, Griphook! They got you too!
HERMIONE (O.S.)
(screaming)
I'm telling you the truth! We
found the sword in the forest —
BELLATRIX (O.S.)
You are lying, filthy Mudblood!
You have been inside my vault at
Gringotts! What else did you take?
Crucio!
HERMIONE screams again. RON is sobbing. Suddenly, DOBBY
the elf appears in the middle of the cellar.
DOBBY
Dobby has come to rescue Harry
Potter!
HARRY
Dobby! How did you... never mind.
You can Disapparate out of this
cellar?
DOBBY nods.
HERMIONE (O.S.)
It's a fake! This isn't the real
sword!
LUCIUS (O.S.)
Wormtail, fetch the goblin! He can
tell us whether the sword is real.
HARRY
Griphook, they're coming for you!
Dobby, take Dean, Mr. Ollivander
and Griphook to... to...
RON
Bill and Fleur's. Shell Cottage on
the outskirts of Tinworth.
HARRY
Right. Then come back for us. Can
you do that, Dobby?
DOBBY bows, then takes DEAN, OLLIVANDER and GRIPHOOK's
hands. They vanish, leaving HARRY and RON in the cellar.
We hear someone scuttling down the steps outside the
cellar.
HARRY (cont'd)
We'll have to try and tackle him.
HARRY and RON back against the wall on either side of the
door.
WORMTAIL (O.S.)
Stand away from the door.
The door flies open. WORMTAIL gazes into the apparently
empty cellar, ablaze with light. Then HARRY and RON
launch themselves upon him. RON seizes WORMTAIL's wand
arm and forces it upward. HARRY slaps a hand to his
mouth, muffling his voice. WORMTAIL's silver hand closes
around HARRY's throat.
HARRY
(choking)
I saved your life once, Wormtail!
Are you going to kill me now?
The silver fingers slacken. RON snatches WORMTAIL's wand
from his other hand. WORMTAIL's pupils dilates in terror
as his silver fingers start moving inexorably toward his
own throat.
HARRY (cont'd)
No!
HARRY and RON try to pull the crushing metal fingers from
around WORMTAIL's throat, but it is no use. WORMTAIL
drops to his knees, gives a last twitch, and is still. On
each side of the open doorway, HARRY and RON look at each
other.
INT. STAIRS OUTSIDE CELLAR, MALFOY MANOR - NIGHT
HARRY and RON run out of the cellar and up the stairs.
INT. LIVING ROOM, MALFOY MANOR - NIGHT
HARRY and RON peek out from behind a doorway.
LUCIUS
What's keeping Wormtail?
HERMIONE is lying at BELLATRIX's feet, barely stirring.
RON
Hermione!
Before HARRY can stop him, RON bursts into the living
room. HARRY sprints after him. RON points Wormtail's wand
at BELLATRIX just as she raises hers.
RON (cont'd)
Expelliarmus!
BELLATRIX's wand flies into the air. Catching the wand,
HARRY points it at LUCIUS.
HARRY
Stupefy!
LUCIUS collapses onto the hearth. Jets of light fly from
DRACO's, NARCISSA's, and GREYBACK's wands. HARRY throws
himself to the floor, rolling behind a sofa to avoid
them. BELLATRIX grabs HERMIONE and holds a short silver
knife to the latter's throat.
BELLATRIX
Stop or she dies!
HARRY peers around the edge of the sofa. RON stands
rigid.
BELLATRIX (cont'd)
Drop your wands.
HARRY and RON drop their wands and raise their hands to
shoulder height.
BELLATRIX (cont'd)
Draco, pick them up!
DRACO complies. As he hurries back to her with the wands,
there is a grinding noise from above. All of them look
upward to see the crystal chandelier tremble and then,
with a creak and an ominous jingling, fall directly onto
BELLATRIX and DRACO. As RON runs to pull HERMIONE out of
the wreckage, HARRY wrests the three wands from DRACO's
grip, and points all of them at GREYBACK.
GREYBACK
Stupefy!
GREYBACK is lifted off his feet by the triple spell,
flies up to the ceiling, and then smashes to the ground.
Having dragged DRACO out of the way of further harm,
NARCISSA points her wand at HARRY, as DOBBY trots into
the room.
DOBBY
You will not harm Harry Potter.
The elf snaps his fingers, and NARCISSA slams into the
wall.
HARRY
Thanks, Dobby!
HARRY picks up the sword of Gryffindor. Both DOBBY and
HARRY hurry over to where RON is huddled over HERMIONE,
and they all take hold of each other, preparing to
Disapparate. Suddenly, BELLATRIX's eyes snap open, and
she throws her knife across the room towards the four
vanishing figures.
EXT. SHELL COTTAGE - NIGHT
The four of them land in the garden of Shell Cottage.
DOBBY sways; the silver hilt of Bellatrix's knife is
protruding from his chest.
HARRY
Dobby!
We hear the sound of approaching footsteps, but the
camera is focused on HARRY and DOBBY. HARRY catches the
toppling elf and lays him sideways on the cool grass.
HARRY (cont'd)
Dobby, no, don't die!
DOBBY
Harry... Potter...
With a little shudder, the elf becomes still.
