Chapter 6: A Place to Hide
EXT. TOTTENHAM COURT ROAD - DAY
HARRY, HERMIONE and RON appear in the middle of a busy
street. They are surrounded by people, but nobody seems
to notice their sudden appearance.
RON
Where are we?
HERMIONE
Tottenham Court Road. I thought
we'd be safer out in the Muggle
world.
A group of young women burst into raucous giggles at the
sight of RON's old-fashioned dress robes. He looks
embarrassed.
HERMIONE (cont'd)
Come on, we need to find somewhere
for you to change.
HERMIONE leads HARRY and RON down a side street.
RON
Hermione, we haven't got anything
to change into.
They slip into the shelter of a shadowy alleyway.
HERMIONE
It's okay, I've got your clothes
here.
Rummaging through her handbag, she pulls out a pair of
jeans, a sweatshirt and a pair of maroon socks, and hands
them over to RON. HARRY and RON look utterly astonished.
RON
How the ruddy hell —
HERMIONE
Undetectable Extension Charm.
She pulls out HARRY's Invisibility Cloak and gives it to
him.
HERMIONE (cont'd)
Harry, you'd better take the
Invisibility Cloak.
INT. CAFE - NIGHT
HARRY is sitting on the inside of a booth, facing the
entrance, with the Cloak over his head. Beside him is
RON, now wearing the sweatshirt and jeans that HERMIONE
gave him. HERMIONE is sitting opposite RON. They are the
only customers in the cafe.
HARRY
The others at the Burrow, do you
think they're all right?
HERMIONE
We can't worry about that now.
It's you they're after, Harry.
RON
She's right. Most of the Order was
there, they'll look after
everyone.
We switch to a wide shot of the booth. The spot that
HARRY was in a minute ago now looks empty, and we realize
that he is invisible. A gum-chewing waitress brings two
cappuccinos to their table. We switch back to a close
shot of the booth, and we see HARRY again.
HERMIONE
I still can't believe that
Voldemort's taken over the
Ministry!
RON
Do you suppose he'll declare
himself Minister of Magic?
HARRY
I don't think so. He'll pull the
strings from within the shadows.
By remaining masked, he can create
confusion, uncertainty, and fear.
RON
Blimey, Harry, you really
understand him, don't you?
We're back to a wide shot, and HARRY is once more
invisible to us. There is a jingle at the door, as two
burly workmen enter the cafe and draw wands. RON lunges
across the table, pushing HERMIONE sideways onto her
bench. A beam of red light shatters the tiled wall where
RON's head just was.

HARRY
Stupefy!
One of the workmen is hit in the face by a jet of red
light. He slumps sideways, unconscious. His companion
points his wand at RON. Shining black ropes fly from the
wand and binds RON head to foot. The waitress screams and
runs for the door. HARRY sends another Stunning Spell at
the remaining Death Eater, but the spell misses, rebounds
on the window, and hits the waitress, who collapses in
front of the door.
DEATH EATER
Expulso!
The table behind HARRY blows up, and the force of the
explosion slams an invisible HARRY into the wall. He
becomes visible as his cloak slips off him. HERMIONE gets
up from her bench and aims her wand at the Death Eater.
HERMIONE
Petrificus Totalus!
The Death Eater falls forward like a statue to land with
a crunching thud on the mess of broken china, table, and
coffee. HERMIONE points her wand at RON.
HERMIONE (cont'd)
Diffindo!
The ropes fall away from him.
HERMIONE (cont'd)
How did they find us so quickly?
RON
We need a safe place to hide.
HARRY
Grimmauld Place.
HERMIONE
Don't be silly, Harry! Snape can
get in there!
HARRY
Ron's dad said they've put up
jinxes against him. It's the best
chance we've got.
EXT. GRIMMAULD PLACE - NIGHT
The trio Apparate into the middle of a small and shabby
square. Tall, dilapidated houses look down on them from
every side. In front of them is number twelve. They race
up the stone steps, and HARRY taps the front door once
with his wand. After a series of metallic clicks and the
clatter of a chain, the door swings open with a creak.
They hurry over the threshold and close the door behind
them.
INT. BEDROOM, SIRIUS' HOUSE - NIGHT
HERMIONE and RON are sound asleep. HARRY is also
sleeping, but he is tossing and turning as if he is in
the thralls of a nightmare.
VOLDEMORT (V.O.)
Where is it?
OLLIVANDER (V.O.)
I don't know!
VOLDEMORT (V.O.)
Do not lie to Lord Voldemort! Tell
me where it is.
OLLIVANDER (V.O.)
I swear, I don't know!
OLLIVANDER's scream fills the air, and HARRY's eyes snap
open. He sits up, looking surprised, his eyes fixated on
something behind the camera.
HARRY
Ron, Hermione, wake up.
RON and HERMIONE stir and yawn, but when they see what
HARRY is looking at, they sit bolt upright. The camera
angle changes and we see what they were staring at — a
Patronus in the shape of a weasel. It starts to speak in
ARTHUR's voice.
ARTHUR'S PATRONUS
Family safe. Do not reply, we are
being watched.
The Patronus dissolves into nothingness. RON smiles in
relief.
RON
They're all right!
